Pennsylvania is partnered with NAADAC’s National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP) to provide Certification options for our field. There are options for national credentials as well as local credentials.
See the complete list of Certifications and applications here.

Certification
National Certificate Programs are available through NAADAC’s NCC AP in Co-Occurring Disorders, Adolescent Treatment, Women in Recovery, Military & Veteran Culture, Nicotine Dependence, and Conflict Resolution.
Certification is also available for peers and counselors.
Pennsylvania Certifications
Current Pennsylvania regulations require certification through a statewide certification body, which is a member of a National certification body. For this reason, our credentials are designed to meet the needs of our Pennsylvania addiction professional community while coordinating with the value of portable national criteria.

Test Exempt Period
During this year, there is a test-exempt period for those who want to gain certification through the Pennsylvania Commission for Addiction Professionals (PCC AP). If you already have a license or certification in the field, you can apply for a “grandparenting” process to obtain your credential with PCC AP. This includes certification for peers, counselors, and supervisors.
See the complete list of Certifications and applications here.
Note: PCC AP accepts all CEs approved by NAADAC, DDAP, PAAP, or PCB.
